Transforming the Health Culture of Your Organization
Our desire is to prescribe a healthy lifestyle rather than prescription drugs. Developed by the physicians at Trinity Medical Associates, the VitalSigns approach to wellness aims to transform the culture of the companies we serve by enhancing the health of every employee. Through establishing and maintaining relationships with employees at every level, the services we offer will be significantly more effective than traditional telephonic or web-based wellness counseling alone. We believe that our focus on health education, on-site exercise instruction, and continued accountability will decrease health care costs, increase productivity, and create a culture of wellness that will endure for years to come.
Proactive, Preventive Health
Over the past century, the medical field has transitioned from treating infectious diseases such as smallpox, polio and tuberculosis to treating chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. There is an annual $1.3 trillion impact on the United States economy from seven chronic diseases–cancer, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, heart disease, lung disease and mental illness. Chronic diseases account for 75 cents out of every dollar spent on health care in the United States, yet less than five cents of each dollar are spent on prevention. These chronic conditions, many of which are preventable, affect both the health and the productivity of your employees. The approach to health care needs to shift from reacting to disease to preventing it.
Since most people spend the majority of their waking hours at work, employers are realizing what an opportunity they have to make a positive impact through workplace wellness programs. According to a 2010 meta-analysis of studies on workplace wellness programs, medical costs fell $3.27 for every dollar spent and absenteeism costs fell $2.73 for every dollar spent. The time to start seeing a return on your investment in the health of your employees is now!
